Platform
Every seat, zone, and lane is sellable inventory.
Assigned seats and open GA zones live in one model, priced through layered bands and overlays, so a stadium, a bowling alley, and a cruise price the same way.
Sound familiar?
Prices hard-coded on geometry
A price glued to a seat object can't survive seasons, campaigns, or a Tuesday matinee. Bands and overlays price the same chart differently, without touching it.
Mystery prices
When three systems set prices, nobody can say why a seat costs what it costs. Here every resolved price carries its source.
Rebuilding prices per show
Copy-paste pricing per event drifts and breaks. One base chart plus sparse overlays means repricing a season is a data change, not a redraw.
One inventory model, every venue
01Two primitives, every venueSEAT for assigned inventory, ZONE for capacity-counted GA. Cabins, lanes, tables, and standing room all map onto the same two.
02Named price bandsEvent-scoped categories with ISO currency, minor-unit amounts, colors, and accessibility flags. Money is exact, never floats.
03Overlay, never mutateBand assignments stack occurrence → thing → event → base. The shared chart stays immutable; every event is a layer on top.
04Price provenanceCampaign, thing override, or event default. The admin shows which layer produced each price, and unpriced inventory stays unsellable.
05Zone capacity controlSell GA by quantity with per-session capacity overrides. Remaining is arithmetic, not hope.
06Campaign-ready pricingRule effects set band prices or take a percent off, compiled when the campaign publishes, never computed on the checkout hot path.
From base chart to final price
- 01Define bandsCreate named price categories per event, currency, amount, color, accessibility.
- 02Assign on the chartPaint bands onto blocks, rows, single seats, and zones. Assignments store as sparse overlays.
- 03Override per sessionMatinee vs evening? Thing-level overrides reprice without touching the base chart.
- 04Sell with provenanceBuyers see final prices; you see exactly which rule produced them.
